Wimbledon is back for , which means not only enjoying the tennis, but also all the court-side style. Last year, the tennis championships were cancelled due to the Covid pandemic - the first time the event had not taken place since World War II. This year, we've been treated to the return of some royal style in the form of the Duchess of Cambridge - who is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club AELTC and a keen tennis fan, regularly in appearance at the annual tournament. Royals aside, our favourite fashion muses have also been spotted attending the iconic tennis event in the past - from Sienna Miller to Alexa Chung and Keira Knightley.
The Tennis Girl is a British poster of a female tennis player without underwear that has become a pop icon. The photograph was taken by thenyear-old Martin Elliott in September and features year-old Fiona Butler [2] [3] now Walker , [4] his girlfriend at the time. The site is occupied now by the university's Tennis Court halls of residence. The image was first published as part of a calendar by Athena for the Silver Jubilee , the same year Virginia Wade achieved the Wimbledon ladies' singles title. Butler, who broke up with Elliot three years later, said in retrospect that she was not embarrassed about posing, nor bitter that she did not receive any royalties from the photo.
